Roppolo is located in Piedmont (the province of Biella) – the strategic position between Vercelli and Ivrea and between Biella, Torinese and Monferrato. The mild climate and the land mainly exploited for agricultural purposes make this area well-known for the wine production including Erbaluce di Caluso and Canavese Rosso.

At the Castle of Roppolo, on the hills, near the Viverone Lake, there is Enoteca Regionale della Serra. Its foundation dates back to 1981. The Enoteca got its name from the Morenica peak of the Serra hills between Ivrea and Biella.

How to get to Roppolo? You can get there by taking the direction of Ivrea on the Santhià motorway (Turin-Milan motorway). In less than 10 minutes you’ll reach Roppolo (right before the Viverone Lake).

The Viverone Lake is the third largest lake in Piedmont, Italy, located between the extreme north-eastern part of the Canavese and the extreme southern part of the Biella area. The lake takes its name from the homonymous municipality to which it belongs. This lake is of glacial origin and was formed during the Quaternary era (as well as many lakes near the Alps), accompanied by tributaries and underground emissaries. The Viverone Lake is not only an important fish and tourist resource, but also an important archaeological site of prehistoric finds from the Bronze Age. In 2005, it was designated as a world heritage site.
